For over 400 years the area of the City of London known as Cheapside was the thriving  hub of trade and market life within the City walls. On this tour we'll take a stroll along what was known as Westcheap, or the western market. Here traders from Butchers to Shoemakers crammed  themselves into the narrow streets to sell their wares to the public. You'll hear tales  of local characters and also the seedier and violent past of what was once London's busiest and most vibrant area.

The tour starts from: St Paul's Tube Station. (Central Line)

Tour ends at: Bank Tube Station. (Central Line)

Time: 60 minutes

Distance: 1km (0.5 miles)

Terrain: Mostly flat, some small steps
